Jayson Werthless

We are know that many of today's athletes are overpaid, overpampered, and over the top diva's.  It's ok, they get paid to play a game and live in a fantasyland that does not allow them to understand what everyday people go through.  We pay to see them because they are extremely talented at what they do and most of the time it is entertaining.  Now of course not all players fall into the description of the first sentence, there are plenty of nice guys out there who realize how blessed they are to be doing what they do and take the time to sign autographs, talk to reporters, and give back to the community (Just another reason why Albert Pujols is not just a better player than everyone else, but also one of the best men playing professional sports today).  Then there are people like Jayson Werth, who is having the first decent season of his career, and now thinks he is God.

First of all..wow.  Who talks like that to anyone?  'Not for you, Bud?'  If someone said that to me they would probably get a few choice words thrown in their general direction.  It's not something that calls for an altercation, but it does call for a "I'm not your bud, and don't you ever bleeping talk to me that way again." Pearlman lays down the evidence that Jayson Werth is not just a dump of a person, but also, up until this season, a dump of a player.  He is clearly a 'Do You Know Who I Am?" type who is lucky to be where he is and treats those he sees as beneath him as if they do not exist.  Hey Jayson, your shit smells just as bad as ours.  Oh, by the way, the only reason he is on the All-Star team is because his Manager, Charlie Manuel, is the NL Manager, and thus picked him to replace Carlos Beltran.  The main competition for that final spot to replace Beltran was Matt Kemp and Pablo Sandoval....two players who are not just great players, but nice people.  Lets see what a quick trip to FanGraphs tells us about these 2 gentleman and 1 douchebag...

Sandoval- 30.9 RAR  .333/.385/.578
Kemp- 41.8 RAR      .320/.384/.495
Werth- 27.7 RAR      .263/.371/.513

So looking at things, Kemp should have gone if they needed an outfield replacement...and it really is not all that close.  What makes up for Kemp being slightly behind Werth with the bat is the fact that Matt Kemp is a far superior fielder to Jayson Werth.  Of course if Manuel wanted a bat he would have picked Kung Fu Panda/ Fat Ichiro. Anyways, this all leads back to the Pearlman story...which is just a footnote in the cronicles of a jackass who will never understand that he is lucky to be doing what he does, and that his true spot on the All-Star Team is watching from his own house thousands of miles away.
